The Swiftbot team has been meticulously designing and coding this new portal website. There were a great deal of thoughts and discussions about HTML5 and CSS3, and the correlation in consuming information on mobile devices versus on traditional online websites. There are similarities but the team strongly believes there is a clear separation between "online mobile apps" design and "native mobile apps" design.
The website is designed for viewing on the iPhone, iPad, Android phone, and Android tablet including the Nook Color. However, the website is not designed to replace the "native mobile apps" look-and-feel. The website UI reflects Swiftbot's core competency in transforming digital publications into native mobile apps. Swiftbot's iOS and Android Apps will be free to download and are coming soon to the Apple iTunes Store and Android Market Place.
The website is a pure CSS3 and HTML5 creation, there is NO image, e.g. no corner-image, no shading image, nor 1-pixel-image, other than the color product images and the Swiftbot's icon. The javascripts and css files are verified, combined and compressed. As the result, the average download time for a complete page is 1/4 of a second, not including the product images i.e. the eye-candy, therefore, the website is readable and elegant without images.
This website is not developed in a vacuum. The Swiftbot team expresses their deep and sincere gratitude to the following open source technologies, reference websites, and colleagues. "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants." [Sir Isaac Newton]
